As a Mistress and Femdom I am frequently approached by people who are curious to get to know me, but who are not quite ready to make the emotional, monetary or time/energy commitment required for my BDSM services. On top of this, it can be understandably difficult to trust a complete stranger with ones body in the throws of such intimate behavior. This sometimes makes the initial connection between Mistress and slave (or whatever D/s, M/s, S&M relationship) difficult, and is very common in both professional and personal contexts. I have found few solutions that both honor my time and energy and provide potential clients, subs and slaves with the information that they need in order to feel safe and comfortable scheduling a play date with me. Attending fetish events can be a very practical solution to this initial connection problem for a number of reasons. The door fee is generally minimal (generally $20-$40); less than I charge for a consultation. It also gives folks a chance to meet and chat face to face in a semi-public and safe environment. It can provide an opportunity to meet a lot of potential play partners in one evening, and also the chance play with someone who feels special to you without jumping into anything to serious.
